From waste to ornaments

From waste to ornaments

We are proud to announce that our project “From Waste to Ornaments” has entered the second round of the “Challenge to Change – C2C” program, whose main goal is to strengthen economic development in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as foster collaboration between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Sweden.

The significance of our project lies in raising public awareness about environmental issues, as plastic packaging waste that pollutes the environment can and should be recycled. Recycling is directly linked to improving the situation of socially vulnerable groups, who can earn additional income by collecting packaging waste, preparing plastic strips for ornament production, and even participating in the design of the ornaments we use.

The software tool we aim to develop serves to enhance the production and sales processes while utilizing plastic packaging waste. The direct benefit of this project is job creation and a positive impact on the environment.

A significant difference compared to previous solutions is the use of plastic strips obtained from plastic packaging instead of the usual string for ornament production. An advantage of this alternative solution is that plastic strips are transparent, unlike string, thereby further reducing production costs and time.

Five individuals will be directly employed, and there is significant potential for indirect employment, estimated to reach dozens of people from impoverished and socially vulnerable segments of society.
